Our mission

Edge Of The Known will continually create better ways to do things outdoors. We know our designs can change the way people experience the outdoors, and we want to share that sense of freedom with as many people as possible. We will stay true to our philosophy of doing more with less.

We acknowledge that the natural world shapes our core approaches to design, business, community, and economy. We recognize that Earth is our life support system, and that sustainability has to permeate everything we do. Working conceptually from a place of biomimicry, we’re reminded that there is no waste in nature. We’re driven to find the most efficient way to achieve our goals, knowing that the pursuit is profitable and stable.

We will drive development and integration of frontier technologies, one small part of a new Industrial Revolution. Living and working at the edge of the known means pushing the boundaries of the possible. It demands flexibility. It demands efficient use of resources and brings new things to life. We will leverage advanced manufacturing processes to help create new structures and processes, better products, more opportunities, and a more stable economy.

As our business grows, we will build with an eye toward developing high-wage, high-skill, fulfilling jobs. People should be able to make a good living in the communities they love, instead of needing to move cross country for work. Frontier design, prototyping, and production tools will help develop stronger, more resilient rural economies, and we will lead by example in our own community. We want to excite, inspire, and train new generations of innovation… and we want them to be able to stay right here, where ingenuity abounds.
